On Wednesday, April 26, 17 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 1926 persons have been stopped this year. Due to humanitarian reasons, two persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; 155 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On April 26, officials of the State Border Guard detected 42 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

34 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 12 foreigners

at the Terehova and the Grebņeva Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Armenia, one – of Russia and one – of Kazakhstan, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to five citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay and to two citizens of Moldova and one – of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document. One more citizen of Ukraine was banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 7 foreigners

four citizens of Uzbekistan, one – of Ukraine, one – of India and one – of   Tajikistan were detected at the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in a visa, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 3 citizens of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia, departing for London without valid for travelling to Great Britain document, was detected, as well as two minor citizens of Latvia, leaving the country, who did not have the second parent's notarized consent for the child's departure from the country, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 2 persons – one citizen of India and one – of Estonia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 6 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – two citizens of Belarus, two - of Serbia, one - of Latvia and one – of Cyprus.
