On Thursday, April 27, 19 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 1945 persons have been stopped during this year. Due to humanitarian reasons, 17 persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; 172 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On April 27, officials of the State Border Guard detected 50 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

32 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 wanted persons was detained

at the Vientuļi Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia entered the country, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to the officials of the State Police.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 5 foreigners

at the Terehova and the the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Kazakhstan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay. Two more citizens of Russia and one – of Ukraine were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

one citizen of Kazakhstan was detected at the Silene Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons was subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia, departing for London without valid for travelling to Great Britain document was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 3 persons – one citizen of Azerbaijan, one – of Uzbekistan and one – od Estonia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 15 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Moldova, three – of Belarus, two – of Kirgizstan, two – of Rumania, one - of Latvia, one – of Russia, one – of Estonia and one – of Azerbaijan.
