On Friday, April 28, 22 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 1967 persons have been stopped this year. 172 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
On April 28, officials of the State Border Guard detected 39 offenders at external borders and within the country.
20 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 11 foreigners
at the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia and one – of Uzbekistan, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Uzbekistan and one – of Tajikistan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay and to three citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document. Four more citizens of Russia were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 2 persons – one citizen of Uzbekistan and one – of Lithuania.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 17 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – nine citizens of Belarus, two - of Latvia, two – of Russia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Poland, one – of Ukraine and one – of Uzbekistan.
