On Saturday, April 29, 44 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 2011 persons have been stopped this year. 172 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
On April 29, officials of the State Border Guard detected 50 offenders at external borders and within the country.
29 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 wanted persons was detained
At the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia entered from London, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to the officials of the State Police.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 10 foreigners
at the Terehova and the Grebņeva Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to seven citizens of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel documents.
Two more citizens of Russia were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 2 foreigners
one citizen of Kirgizstan and one – of Russia were detected at the Grebņeva and the Pāternieki Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia, departing for London without valid for travelling document (the document has expired), and at the Pāternieki Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia leaving the country without valid for travelling document, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons – one citizen of Uzbekistan, one – of Pakistan, one – of Tajikistan and one – of Lithuania.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 17 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – seven citizens of Belarus, three - of Moldova, two – of Latvia, one – of Russia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Kirgizstan, one – of Serbia and one – of Uzbekistan.
