On Tuesday, April 4, 9 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 1326 persons have been stopped this year. Due to humanitarian reasons, 5 persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; 77 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On April 3, officials of the State Border Guard detected 56 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

30 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 wanted persons was detained

At the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia entered from Frankfurt, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to the officials of the State Police.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 12 foreigners

at the Pāternieki, the Grebņeva, the Terehova, the Vientuļi and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Russia and one – of Moldova, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to five citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel documents. Two more citizens of Russia, one – of Ukraine and one – of Estonia were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 4 foreigners

three citizens of Ukraine and one – of Uzbekistan were detected at the Terehova and the Grebņeva Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in a visa or visa-free regime, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia, departing for London without valid for travelling to Great Britain document, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 7 persons - four citizens of Tajikistan, one – of Estonia, one – of Kirgizstan and one – of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 18 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, three – of Moldova, two - of Latvia, two – of Lithuania, two – of Romania, two – of Ukraine, one – of Russia, one – of Poland, one – of Serbia.
