On Wednesday, April 5, 33 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the Latvian - Belarusian border, while a total – 1359 persons have been stopped this year. Due to humanitarian reasons, 1 person was not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; 78 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On April 5, officials of the State Border Guard detected 45 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

21 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 4 foreigners

at the Grebņeva, the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Moldova and one – of Sri Lanka, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel documents and to one citizen of Uzbekistan, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay. One more citizen of Ukraine was banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 6 foreigners

four citizens of Uzbekistan, one – of Belarus and one – of Moldova were detected at the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in a visa, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one minor citizen of Latvia, departing for Dubai who did not have at least one parent's notarized consent for the child's independent departure from the country, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons - two citizens of Uzbekistan, one – of Tajikistan and one – of Belarus.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 20 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – seven citizens of Belarus, three - of Latvia, two – of Russia, two – of Moldova, two – of Serbia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Turkish, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of Germany.
