On Friday, April 5, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 883 persons have been stopped this year.

Due to humanitarian reasons, 0 persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; a total 7 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 44 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

12 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 wanted citizen of Uzbekistan was detained

At the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Uzbekistan leaving Latvia, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 5 foreigners

at Terehova, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document, to two citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; as well as to one citizen of Ukraine and one – of Georgia, as the foreigners have already stayed for 90 days in the preceding 180 days on the territory of the Schengen Member States. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners

one citizens of Russia and two – of Uzbekistan were detected at the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 9 persons -  three citizens of Russia, two – of Estonia, two - of Pakistan, one – of Belarus and one – of Moldova.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 23 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – 12 citizens of Belarus, two - of Lithuania, two – of Kazakhstan, two – of Moldova, one – of Latvia, one – of Russia, one – of Georgia, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of German.
