On Thursday, April 6, 7 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the Latvian - Belarusian border, while a total – 1366 persons have been stopped this year. 78 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons a total this year.

On April 6, officials of the State Border Guard detected 38 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

21 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 13 foreigners

at the Pāternieki, the Silene, the Terehova the Vientuļi and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Ukraine, one – of Russia and one – of Belarus, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel documents, to one citizen of Peru, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay. Five more citizens of Russia and one – of Ukraine were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

one citizen of Chine was detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The person was subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia, departing for Antalya and one -  for Istanbul, who were not in possession of valid travel documents (documents invalid due to change of surname), were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for one citizen of Estonia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 16 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Lithuania, three – of Moldova, two – of Ukraine, one – of Russia, one – of Belarus, one – of Lithuania, one – of Kazakhstan, one –of Kirgizstan, one – of Serbia, one – of Finland, one – of Turkish.
