On Friday, April 7, 26 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the Latvian - Belarusian border, while a total – 1392 persons have been stopped this year. Due to humanitarian reasons, 5 persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; 83 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
On April 7, officials of the State Border Guard detected 54 offenders at external borders and within the country.
27 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 9 foreigners
at the Grebņeva, the Terehova, the Vientuļi and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Russia and two – of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to two citizens of Georgia, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was banned from entry into the territory of the Schengen States. One more citizen of Russia was banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 6 foreigners
three citizens of Russia, one – of Belarus, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of Tajikistan were detected at the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in a visa or visa-free regime, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by a citizen of Russia was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia, departing for London without valid for travelling to Great Britain document, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 13 persons - seven citizens of Belarus, three – of Lithuania, one – of Russia, one – of Turkish and one – of Uzbekistan.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 14 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Russia, two – of Belarus, two - of Latvia, two – of Ukraine, one – of Estonia, one – of Armenia, one – of Kirgizstan, one – of Moldova and one – of Uzbekistan.
