On Saturday, April 8, 17 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the Latvian - Belarusian border, while a total – 1409 persons have been stopped this year. Due to humanitarian reasons, 5 persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; 88 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
On April 8, officials of the State Border Guard detected 40 offenders at external borders and within the country.
20 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 5 foreigners
at the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki, the Silane and the Vientuļi Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Belarus and one – of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document. One more citizen of Russia and one – of Ukraine were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners
two citizens of Ukraine and one – of Belarus were detected at the Silene and the Terehova Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in a visa or visa-free regime, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons - three citizens of Estonia and one – of Russia.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 16 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – two citizens of Belarus, two - of Latvia, two – of Ukraine, two – of Uzbekistan, one – of Iraq, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Kirgizstan, one – of Moldova, one – of Romania, one – of Tajikistan, one – of Turkish and one – of German.
