On Sunday, April 9, 36 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the Latvian - Belarusian border, while a total – 1445 persons have been stopped this year. Due to humanitarian reasons, 24 persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; 112 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
On April 9, officials of the State Border Guard detected 44 offenders at external borders and within the country.
34 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 foreigners
at the Silene and the Grebņeva Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Belarus and one - of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit. The persons were returned to the country of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 4 foreigners
two citizens of Uzbekistan and two – of Georgia were detected at the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in visa-free regime, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one minor citizen of Latvia, departing for Istanbul, who did not have at least one parent's notarized consent for the child's independent departure from the country, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 10 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, two - of Latvia, one – of Russia, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Ukraine and one – of Germany.
