On Tuesday, April 9, 16 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 1005 persons have been stopped this year.
Due to humanitarian reasons, 0 persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; a total 7 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 28 offenders at external borders and within the country.
12 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected
At the Grebņeva Border Control Point, one citizen of Serbia entered Latvia with lorry, who presented to border guards a forged Serbian driving license, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for using forged documents. The forged document was seized within the criminal proceedings.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 8 foreigners
at Terehova, the Grebņeva and the Pāternieki Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits; to one citizen of Georgia, as the foreigner was banned from entry into the territory of the Schengen States, to one citizen of Belarus, as the foreigner has already stayed for 90 days in the preceding 180 days on the territory of the Schengen Member States; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia, one – of Belarus and one – of Ukraine due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 16 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – seven citizens of Belarus, two – of Moldova, one – of Latvia, one – of Bosnia and Herzegovina, one – of Georgia, one – of Croatia, one – of Kazakhstan, one - of Ukraine and one – of Uzbekistan.
