On Friday, August 11, 39 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 5589 persons have been stopped this year.

In total 286 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On August 11, officials of the State Border Guard detected 54 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

22 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

at the Pāternieki Border Control Point 1 citizen of Latvia, who presented to border guards forged Polish vehicle driving license, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for using forged documents. The forged document was seized within the framework of the criminal process.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 15 foreigners

at the Grebņeva, the Terehova, the Silene and the Vientuļi Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to five citizens Russia, one - of Ukraine and one – of Belarus, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to three citizens of Ukraine and one -  of Moldova, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document; as well as to one citizen of Moldova as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay. Two more citizens of Ukraine and one - of Russia were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 4 foreigners

two citizens of Uzbekistan, one – of Kirgizstan, one – of Georgia and one – of Kazakhstan were detected at the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 11 persons – four citizens of Estonia, three – of Pakistan, two – of Russia, one – of Moldova and one – of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 21 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Belarus, two – of Latvia, two – of Russia, two – of Kazakhstan,

two – of Moldova, two – of Uzbekistan, one – of Lithuania, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Kirgizstan, one – of Germany and one – of Ukraine.
