On Sunday, August 11, 47 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 3812 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 12 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 38 offenders at external borders and within the country.
10 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected
At the Terehova Border Control Point, one citizen of Georgia enterd Latvia with a vehicle, who presented to border guards a forged Ukrainian driving licence, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for the use of forged documents. The forged document was seized.
- 1 wanted person – citizen of Latvia was detained
At the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Uzbekistan, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 6 foreigners
at the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Georgia, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay, to one citizen of Uzbekistan and two - of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine and one – of Moldova due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia, departing for Turkey, who did not have the notarized consent of the parent for the child to leave the country, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 5 persons - two citizens of Estonia, two - of Lithuania and one – of Ukraine.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 23 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – seven citizens of Belarus, three – of Moldova, two – of Latvia, two – of Estonia, two – of Georgia, two - of Kazakhstan, one – of Lithuania, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Bulgaria, one – of Macedonia and one – of Tajikistan.
