On Sunday, August 13, 53 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 5703 persons have been stopped this year.
Due to humanitarian reasons, three persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; 292 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
On August 13, officials of the State Border Guard detected 50 offenders at external borders and within the country.
33 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 16 foreigners
at the Grebņeva, the Terehova, the Vientuļi, the Silene, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to five citizens of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to two citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document; to three citizens of Moldova and one – of Kazakhstan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; as well as to one citizen of Georgia, as the foreigner was banned from entry into the territory of the Schengen States. Two more citizens of Russia, one - of Moldova and one – of Germany were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 7 foreigners
two citizens of Azerbaijan, one – of Uzbekistan, one – of Ukraine, one – of Moldova, one – of Russia and one – of Georgia were detected at the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia, departing for Newcastle, who was not in possession of valid travel document (document invalid due to last name change), was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons – two citizens of Lithuania, one – of Russia and one - of Estonia.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 13 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Belarus, one – of Russia, one – of Latvia, one – of Israel, one – of Moldova, one – of Serbia, one – of Ukraine and one – of Germany.
