On Monday, August 14, 96 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 5799 persons have been stopped this year.
In total 292 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
On August 14, officials of the State Border Guard detected 70 offenders at external borders and within the country.
38 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 16 foreigners
at the Grebņeva, the Terehova, the Vientuļi, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Russia and one - of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to three citizens of Ukraine and one – of Moldova, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay. Four more citizens of Russia, two - of Ukraine and one – of Israel were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 6 foreigners
two citizens of Ukraine, one – of Germany, one – of Tajikistan, one – of Kazakhstan and one – of Uzbekistan were detected at the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Vientuļi and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa or visa-free regime, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by the citizen of Germany was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia
at the Pāternieki Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia, leaving the country, who was not in possession of valid travel document (the document is registered as stolen or lost), and one minor citizen of Latvia leaving the country, who did not have a notarized consent of his parents for the child's departure from the country, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 9 persons – three citizens of Uzbekistan, two – of France, one – of Latvia, one–of Mozambique, one – of Nigeria and one - of Estonia.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 23 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – eight citizens of Belarus, three – of Russia, three – of Ukraine, two – of Latvia, one – of Georgia, one – of Kirgizstan, one – of Moldova, one – of Serbia, one – of Poland, one – of China and one – of Germany.
