On Wednesday, August 14, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 3871 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 12 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 55 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

30 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 12 foreigners

at the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Belarus and one – of Georgia, as the foreigners are banned from entering and staying in the territory of the Schengen area countries. While at the at the Grebņeva and the Terehova Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to five citizens of Ukraine and one – of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 12 foreigners

six citizens of Uzbekistan, two – of Kazakhstan, two – of Georgia, one – of Jordan and one – of Ukraine, were detected at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by one citizen of Uzbekistan and one – of Jordan was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 6 persons -  four citizens of Lithuania, one – of Latvia and one – of Turkey.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 19 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Belarus, four – of Moldova, two – Latvia, two – of Lithuania, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Poland, one – of Tajikistan, one – of Ukraine and one – of Germany.
