On Thursday, August 15, 10 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 3881 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 16 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 61 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

29 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 wanted person – citizen of Lithuania was detained

At the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Lithuania entered from Ireland, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The man was detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 9 foreigners

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Uzbekistan, the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay; to four citizens of Great Britain, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document. While at the Terehova and the Pāternieki Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Belarus, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner has already stayed for 90 days in the territory of the Schengen area countries in the preceding 180 days; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova and one – of Ukraine due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 6 foreigners

three citizens of Uzbekistan, two – of Kazakhstan and one – of Tajikistan, were detected at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by one citizen of Uzbekistan was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point two minor citizens of Latvia, departing for Albania, who did not have the notarized consent of at least one parent for the child to leave the country independently, were detected.  The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 9 persons -  three citizens of Estonia, two – of Belarus, two – of Tajikistan, one – of Latvia and one - of Lithuania.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 23 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – ten citizens of Belarus, two – of Estonia, two – of Kirgizstan, two – of Moldova, one – of Russia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Georgia, one – of Norway, one – of Poland, one – of Romania and one – of Slovakia.
