On Tuesday, August 16, 2022, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 50 offenders on both external borders and within the country.
23 trespassers were detected on external borders, including:
- three foreigners with forged documents were detected
at “Grebneva” border control point, one citizen of Ukraine, who presented forged vehicle registration certificate of Ukraine to the border guards was detected, while at the “Riga” Airport border control point, two citizens of Syria, who presented forged passports of a citizen of Morocco and a citizen of Algeria together with counterfeit Finnish residence permits were detected. Criminal proceedings have been initiated for the use of forged documents. Forged documents were confiscated as part of the criminal proceedings.
- entry to the Republic of Latvia was refused for four foreigners
at “Terehova” and “Silene” border control points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused for two citizens of Russia, one citizen of Uzbekistan and one citizen of Belarus, as foreigners were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits. Persons were returned to the country of exit.
- conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen area were violated by three foreigners
at “Terehova” and “Riga” Airport border control points, two citizens of Russia and one citizen of Mexico, who have violated conditions of residence in the Schengen area (exceeded the period of stay specified in the visa, no valid visa or residence permit) were detected. Persons have been brought to administrative responsibility.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Latvia
at “Riga” Airport border control point, one citizen of Latvia leaving for Great Britain without a valid travel document necessary for entering Great Britain was detected. Person was refused the right to leave the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected by eight persons - six citizens of Belarus, one citizen of Uzbekistan and one citizen of Germany.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 19 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia - five citizens of Belarus, four citizens of Latvia, three citizens of Ukraine, two citizens of Kazakhstan, one citizen of Russia, one citizen of Estonia, one citizen of Azerbaijan, one citizen of Moldova, and one citizen of Germany.
