On Friday, August 16, 11 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 3892 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 16 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 48 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

23 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

At the Pāternieki Border Control Point, one citizen of Estonia leaving Latvia, who presented to border guards a forged Polish driving licence, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for the use of forged documents. The forged document was seized within the framework of the criminal proceedings.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 5 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, to one – of Russia and one - of Ukraine due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 11 foreigners

three citizens of Georgia, two – of Uzbekistan, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Belarus, one – of Tajikistan, one – of Kirgizstan, one – of Thailand and one – of Serbia were detected at the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by the citizen of Thailand was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia

at the Pāternieki Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia, departing for Belarus, who was not in possession of valid travel document, was detected. While at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one minor citizen (female) of Latvia, who did not have the notarized consent of at least one parent for the child to leave the country independently, was detected.  The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons -  one citizen of Tajikistan, one - of Estonia, one - of Lithuania and one – of Indonesia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 21 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Germany, three – of Russia, three – of Belarus, two – of Lithuania, two – of Moldova, one – of Latvia, one – of Estonia, one – of Italy, one - of Kazakhstan, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of Czech Republic.
