On Wednesday, August 17, 2022, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 59 offenders on both external borders and within the country.
22 trespassers were detected on external borders, including:
- three foreigners with forged documents were detected
at „Terehova” border control point, one citizen of Moldova, who presented a forged vehicle registration certificate of Russia, as well as at the “Grebņeva” border control point, one citizen of Ukraine, who presented a forged vehicle registration certificate of Ukraine to border guards, were detected. Criminal proceedings have been initiated for the use of forged documents. Forged documents were confiscated as part of the criminal proceedings.
- one wanted person was detained
at „Riga” Airport border control point, one citizen of Latvia, who is wanted by the police and arrived in Latvia from Amsterdam, was detected. A man, born in 1986, was detained and handed over to the officials of the State Police.
- entry to the Republic of Latvia was refused for four foreigners
at „Terehova” border control point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused for two citizens of Ukraine as foreigners were not in a possession of valid visas or residence permits. Persons were returned to the country of exit.
- conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen area were violated by four foreigners
at “Grebneva” and “Riga” Airport border control points, one citizen of Russia, one citizen of Israel, one citizen of Kazakhstan, and one citizen of Georgia, who have violated conditions of residence in the Schengen area (exceeded the period of stay specified in the visa or visa-free regime, no valid visa or residence permit) were detected. The proceedings in the case of the Russian citizen’s administrative offense were not initiated, while the other persons were held administratively responsible.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Latvia
at “Riga” Airport border control point one citizen of Latvia leaving for Great Britain without a valid travel document required in Great Britain, as well as one citizen of Latvia leaving Latvia without a valid travel document (document has expired) were detected. Persons were refused the right to leave the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected by 13 persons - three citizens of Lithuania, two citizens of Estonia, two citizens of Finland, two citizens of Tajikistan, two citizens of Uzbekistan, and two citizens of Russia.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 24 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia - seven citizens of Belarus, five citizens of Russia, four citizens of Lithuania, three citizens of Latvia, one citizen of Poland, one citizen of Romania, one citizen of Tajikistan, and one citizen of Uzbekistan.
