On Saturday, August 17, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 3892 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 16 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 52 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

32 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

At the Terehova Border Control Point, one citizen of Moldova leaving Latvia, who presented to border guards a forged Romanian International Vehicle Insurance Policy, was detected. The person was held administratively liable. The forged document was seized within the framework of the administrative procedure.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 16 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to six citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; to two citizens of Russia and one – of Belarus, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to seven citizens of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 7 foreigners

two citizens of Azerbaijan, one – of Russia, one – of Uzbekistan, one – of Kirgizstan, one – of Belarus and one – of Kazakhstan were detected at the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by two citizens of Azerbaijan and one – of Kazakhstan was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia

at the Pāternieki Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia, departing for Belarus, who was not in possession of valid travel document, was detected. While at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one minor citizen (female) of Latvia leaving the country for Serbia, who did not have the notarized consent of at least one parent for the child to leave the country independently, was detected.  The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 3 persons -  one citizen of Lithuania, one - of Taiwan and one – of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 17 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Lithuania, three – of Moldova, two – of Russia, two – of Belarus, one – of Latvia, one – of France, one – of India, one – of Kirgizstan, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of Romania.
