On Thursday, August 18, 2022, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 37 offenders on both external borders and within the country.

17 trespassers were detected on external borders, including:

  • one foreigner with a forged document was detected

at „Silene” border control point, one citizen of Sweden, who presented a forged vehicle registration certificate of Romania to the border guards, was detected. Criminal proceedings have been initiated for the use of forged documents. Forged documents were confiscated as part of the criminal proceedings.

  • entry to the Republic of Latvia was refused for two foreigners

at “Terehova” border control point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused for one citizen of Ukraine, as foreigner was not in possession of a valid visa or residence permit, and one citizen of Russia, as person could not justify the purpose and circumstances of his travel and stay. Persons were returned to their country of exit.

  • conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen area were violated by six foreigners

at “Grebņeva”, “Terehova” and “Riga” airport border control points, two citizens of Russia, one citizen of Belarus, one citizen of Ukraine, one citizen of Great Britain, and one citizen of Georgia, who have violated conditions of residence in the Schengen area (exceeded the period of stay specified in the visa or visa-free regime, no valid visa or residence permit, no valid travel document) were detected. Persons are subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Latvia

at “Riga” airport border control point, one citizen of Latvia leaving for Great Britain without a valid travel document required in Great Britain was detected. Person was refused the right to leave the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected by three persons - two citizens of Lithuania and one citizen of Tajikistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 17 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia - five citizens of Belarus, four citizens of Russia, three citizens of Latvia, two citizens of Moldova, two citizens of Germany, and one citizen of Kazakhstan.
