On Sunday, August 18, 21 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 3913 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 16 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 50 offenders at external borders and within the country.
19 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected
At the Terehova Border Control Point, one citizen of Uzbekistan leaving Latvia, who presented to border guards a forged Uzbekistan vehicle registration certificate, was detected. The person was held administratively liable. The forged document was seized within the framework of the administrative procedure.
- 1 wanted person – citizen of Latvia was detained
At the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia entered Latvia from Great Britain, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was handed over to officials of the State Police.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 7 foreigners
at the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the Grebņeva Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; to two citizens of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to four citizens of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one minor citizen of Latvia (female), departing for Turkey, and one minor citizen of Latvia (female), departing for Serbia, who did not have the notarized consent of at least one parent for the child to leave the country independently, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 6 persons - two citizens – of Mali, one - of Lithuania, one - of France, one – of Poland and one – of Romania.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 25 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – eight citizens of Belarus, seven – of Moldova, two - of Lithuania, two – of Kirgizstan, two – of Germany, one – of Latvia, one – of Estonia, one – of Belgium and one – of Kazakhstan.
