On Saturday, August 20, 2022, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 46 offenders on both external borders and within the country.

16 trespassers were detected on external borders, including:

  • entry to the Republic of Latvia was refused for two foreigners

at “Terehova” and “Pāternieki” border control points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused for one citizen of Ukraine and one citizen of Russia, as foreigners were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits. Persons were returned to their country of exit.

  • conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen area were violated by seven foreigners

at „Terehova” and „Riga” airport border control points, three citizens of Russia, one citizen of Ukraine, and one citizen of Great Britain, who were had violated conditions of residence in the Schengen area (exceeded the period of stay specified in the visa or visa-free regime) were detected. The proceedings in the case of the British citizen’s administrative violation were not initiated; other persons were brought to administrative responsibility.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Latvia

at “Pāternieki” border control point, one citizen of Latvia, who was not in possession of a valid travel document, and one minor citizen of Latvia who did not have parents’ notarized consent to leave the country independently, were detected. Persons are prohibited from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected by eight persons - four citizen of Lithuania, two citizens of Estonia, one citizen of Moldova, and one citizen of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 22 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia - seven citizens of Belarus, four citizens of Moldova, two citizens of Russia, two citizens of Estonia, two citizens of Ukraine, two citizens of Uzbekistan, one citizen of Latvia, one citizen of Lithuania, and one citizen of Austria.
