On Tuesday, August 20, 40 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 3953 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 16 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 43 offenders at external borders and within the country.
18 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 6 foreigners
at the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the Grebņeva Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner has a ban to enter and stay in the territory of the Schengen States; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine, to one – of Moldova and to one – of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner
one citizen of Azerbaijan was detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The person was subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point two minor citizens (females) of Latvia leaving the country for Turkey and Armenia, who did not have the notarized consent of at least one parent for the child to leave the country independently, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 5 persons - two citizens – of Estonia, one – of Latvia, one - of Russia and one – of Albania.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 18 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Belarus, three – of Lithuania, two – of Serbia, one – of Estonia, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Finland, one – of Tajikistan, one – of Ukraine, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of Germany.
