On Sunday, August 21, 2022, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 54 offenders on both external borders and within the country.
29 trespassers were detected on external borders, including:
- one foreigner was detected with forged documents
at “Terehova” border control point, one citizen of Ukraine, who presented a forged driver’s license of Ukraine to the border guards, was detected. Criminal proceedings have been initiated for the use of forged documents. The forged documents were confiscated as part of the criminal proceeding.
- entry to the Republic of Latvia was refused for 18 foreigners
at „Terehova” and „Grebņeva” border control points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused for 15 citizens of Moldova, as persons could not justify the purpose and circumstances of their travel and stay; one citizen of Yemen; and one citizen of Russia, as foreigners were not in possession of valid visas and residence permits, and one citizen of Moldova, as foreigner is prohibited from entering and staying in the territory of the Schengen member countries. Persons were returned to their country of exit.
- conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen area were violated by two foreigners
at “Grebņeva” and “Terehova” border control points, one citizen of Russia and one citizen of Ukraine, who had violated conditions of residence in the Schengen area (exceeded the period of stay specified in the visa) were detected. Persons are subject to administrative liability.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected by eight persons - four citizen of Lithuania, two citizens of Uzbekistan, one citizen of Estonia, and one citizen of Tajikistan.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 17 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia - six citizens of Russia, four citizens of Belarus, three citizens of Germany, two citizens of Ukraine, one citizens of Latvia, and one citizen of Estonia.
