On Wednesday, August 21, 36 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 3989 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 16 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 62 offenders at external borders and within the country.
32 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected
At the Port of Ventspils, during the profiling of passengers arriving by ferry from Sweden, one citizen of Uzbekistan, who presented to border guards a forged Uzbek driving licence, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for the use of forged documents. The forged document was seized within the framework of the criminal proceedings.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 4 foreigners
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigner has a ban to enter and stay in the territory of the Schengen States; while at the Grebņeva and the Terehova Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia and one – of Moldova due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 13 foreigners
four citizens of Uzbekistan, three – of Russia, three – of Georgia, one – of Armenia, one – of Moldova and one - of Tajikistan were detected at the Grebņeva, the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 7 persons - two citizens – of Russia, two – of Uzbekistan, one – of Lithuania, one – of Azerbaijan and one – of India.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 23 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – nine citizens of Belarus, four – of Lithuania, two – of Moldova, two – of Tajikistan, one – of Russia, one – of Kirgizstan, one – of Poland, one – of Ukraine, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of Germany.
