On Monday, August 22, 2022, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 69 offenders on both external borders and within the country.

30 trespassers were detected on external borders, including:

  •  entry to the Republic of Latvia was refused for five foreigners

at “Terehova”, “Vientuļi” and “Grebņeva” border control points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Moldova, as foreigners could not justify purpose and circumstances of their travel and stay; and three citizens of Russia, as foreigners were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits. Persons were returned to their country of exit.

  • conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen area were violated by 13 foreigners

at “Terehova” and “Riga” airport border control points, seven citizens of Uzbekistan, two citizens of Ukraine, two citizens of Russia, and one citizen of Kyrgyzstan, who had violated conditions of residence in the Schengen area (exceeded the period of stay specified in the visa or visa-free regime, no valid visas or residence permits) were detected. Proceedings in the cases of four administrative violations of four citizens of Uzbekistan were not initiated, the other persons were brought to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Latvia

at “Silene” border control point, one citizen of Latvia without valid travel document, was detected. Person was prohibited from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected by 11 persons - three citizens of Estonia, three citizens of Russia, two citizens of Lithuania, two citizens of Azerbaijan, and one citizen of Latvia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 28 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia - eight citizens of Belarus, five citizens of Russia, three citizens of Lithuania, two citizens of Latvia, two citizens of Estonia, one citizen of Kyrgyzstan, one citizen of Great Britain, one citizen of Moldova, one citizen of Serbia, one citizen of Finland, one citizen of Tajikistan, one citizen of Turkey, and one citizen of Ukraine.
