On Friday, August 23, 13 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 4009 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 16 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 56 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

31 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 9 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Georgia and one – of Uzbekistan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; to two citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document;  as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Ukraine and one – of Russia, due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 10 foreigners

six citizens of Uzbekistan, two – of Georgia, one – of Kirgizstan and one – of Belarus were detected at the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by two citizens of Georgia and one – of Kyrgyzstan was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 4 citizens of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point four minor citizens of Latvia, two departing for Georgia and two – for Serbia, who did not have the notarized consent of the other parent for the child to leave the country, were detected.  The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 9 persons -  four citizens of Estonia, two – of Lithuania, two – of Moldova and one – of Ukraine.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 16 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – seven citizens of Belarus, two – of Moldova, two – of Germany, one - of Lithuania, one – of France, one – of Italy, one – of Ukraine and one – of Uzbekistan.
