On Wednesday, August 24, 2022, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 53 offenders on both external borders and within the country.
24 trespassers were detected on external borders, including:
- entry to the Republic of Latvia was refused for two foreigners
at „Terehova” border control point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as foreigner could not justify the purpose and circumstances of his travel and stay, and one citizen of Russia, as the foreigner was not in possession of a valid visa or residence permit. Persons were returned to their country of exit.
- conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen area were violated by eight foreigners
at „Grebņeva”, „Pāternieki”, „Silene”, and „Riga” Airport border control points, three citizens of Moldova, two citizens of Ukraine, one citizen of Belarus, one citizen of Kazakhstan, and one citizen of Great Britain, who had violated conditions of residence in the Schengen area (exceeded the period of stay specified in the visa or visa-free regime, were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits) were detected. The proceedings in the case of one Ukrainian citizen’s administrative violation were not initiated; other persons are subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Latvia
at “Riga” Airport border control point, one citizen of Latvia departing for Dublin without a valid travel document (surname changed) was detected; at “Silene” border control point, one minor citizen of Latvia who did not have the notarized consent of his/her parents to leave the country independently was detected.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected by six persons - three citizens of Estonia, two citizens of Uzbekistan, and one citizen of Russia.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 23 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia - four citizens of Russia, four citizens of Belarus, four citizens of Moldova, three citizens of Serbia, two citizens of Ukraine, one citizen of Latvia, one citizen of Lithuania, one citizen of Romania, one citizen of Tajikistan, and one citizen of Uzbekistan.
