On Saturday, August 24, 10 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 4019 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 16 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 78 offenders at external borders and within the country.
42 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 27 foreigners
at the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 17 citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; to one citizen of Ukraine and two – of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to five citizens of Russia and two – of Moldova, due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 2 foreigners
one citizen of Moldova and one – of Uzbekistan were detected at the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one minor citizen of Latvia leaving the country for Montenegro, who did not have the notarized consent of the other parent for the child to leave the country, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 10 persons - five citizens of Estonia, four – of Russia and one – of Bangladesh.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 26 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – nine citizens of Belarus, four - of Lithuania, three – of Moldova, three – of Russia, two – of Latvia, two – of Uzbekistan, one – of Canada, one – of Kazakhstan and one – of Romania.
