On Sunday, August 25, 10 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 4029 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 16 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 46 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

20 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with documents of another person was detected

While carrying out immigration control at the the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Senegal, leaving the country for Spain, who presented to border guards a passport of Malian citizen, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for concealing one's identity.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 8 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 3 citizens of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Georgia, as the foreigner has a ban to entry the territory of the Schengen States; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Ukraine and two – of Belarus, due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners

one citizen of Ukraine, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of Mauritania were detected at the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 4 citizens of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point three minor citizens of Latvia, leaving the country for Georgia, who did not have the notarized consent of the other parent for the child to leave the country, and one citizen of Latvia (female) leaving the country for Albania, who was not in possession of valid travel document, were detected.  The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 2 persons -  one citizen of Estonia and one – of Tajikistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 24 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – eight citizens of Belarus, four – of Moldova, three – of Latvia, one - of Belgium, one – of Georgia, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Kirgizstan, one – of Serbia, one – of Slovakia, one – of Uzbekistan, one – of Germany and one – of Sweden.
