On Friday, August 26, 2022, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 66 offenders on both external borders and within the country.
21 trespassers were detected on external borders, including:
- one foreigner with forged documents
at „Grebņeva” border control point, one citizen of Ukraine who presented a forged vehicle registration certificate of Ukraine was detected. Criminal proceedings have been initiated for the use of forged documents. Forged documents were confiscated as part of the criminal proceedings.
- entry to the Republic of Latvia was refused for five foreigners
at “Terehova”, “Grebņeva” and Airport “Riga” border control points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused for two citizens of Uzbekistan, as foreigners could not justify the purpose and circumstances of their travel and stay; one citizen of Belarus and one citizen of the USA, as foreigners were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits; and one citizen of Ukraine, as foreigner is prohibited from entering and staying in the territory of the Schengen zone countries. Persons were returned to their country of exit.
- conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen area were violated by seven foreigners
at “Terehova”, “Pāternieki” and Airport “Riga” border control points, three citizens of Uzbekistan, one citizen of Ukraine, one citizen of Belarus, and one citizen of Russia, who had violated conditions of residence in the Schengen area (exceeded the period of stay specified in the visa or visa-free regime, no valid visa or residence permit) were detected. Persons are subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Latvia
at Airport “Riga” border control point, one citizen of Latvia, departing for Great Britain, without a valid travel document required by Great Britain, was detected. Person was prohibited from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected by eight persons - two citizens of Uzbekistan, two citizens of Ukraine, two citizens of Russia, one citizen of Latvia, and one citizen of Tajikistan.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 28 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia - nine citizens of Russia, eight citizens of Belarus, four citizens of Ukraine, three citizens of Latvia, one citizen of Lithuania, one citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina, one citizen of Poland, and one citizen of Germany.
