On Saturday, August 26, 81 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 6640 persons have been stopped during this year.

Due to humanitarian reasons, six persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; 305 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On August 26, officials of the State Border Guard detected 60 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

34 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

at the Grebņeva Border Control Point 1 citizen of Belarus, who presented to border guards forged Belarusian vehicle driving license, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for using forged documents. The forged document was seized within the framework of the criminal process.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 7 foreigners

at the Vientuļi, the Grebņeva, the Terehova and the Pāternieki Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document. Three more citizens of Russia and one – of Ukraine were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 5 foreigners

two citizens of Russia, two – of Belarus and one – of Venezuela were detected at the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by a citizen of Russia and the citizen of Venezuela was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 3 citizens of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one minor citizen of Latvia, departing for Dubai, who was not in possession of the notarized consent of at least one parent for the child to leave the country independently, was detected; as well as two minor citizens of Latvia, departing for Tel Aviv (travelling with their mother, an Israeli citizen), who were not in possession of a notarized consent of the other parent for a child to leave the country, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 6 persons – five citizen of Estonia and one – of Lithuania.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 20 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Belarus, four – of Latvia, two – of Russia, two – of Lithuania,

two – of Moldova, one - of Uzbekistan, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Great Britain and one – of Germany.
