On Tuesday, August 27, 21 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 4054 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 16 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 39 offenders at external borders and within the country.
11 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected
at the Pāternieki Border Control Point, one citizen of Belarus, leaving Latvia, who presented a vehicle registration certificate to border guards, where signs of forgery were detected in the column for indicating the carrying out a roadworthiness test, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for the use of forged documents. The vehicle registration certificate was seized within the framework of the criminal proceedings.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 5 foreigners
at the Terehova Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner has a ban to entry the territory of the Schengen States; while at the at the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Belarus and one – of India, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one minor citizen of Latvia, leaving the country for Turkey, who did not have the notarized consent of the other parent for the child to leave the country, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 5 persons - two citizens of Latvia, one - of Russia, one – of Estonia and one – of Moldova.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 23 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Moldova, five – of Belarus, two – of Latvia, two – of Kirgizstan, two – of Uzbekistan, one – of Russia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Bulgaria, one – of Mongolia, one – of Poland and one – of Tajikistan.
