On Sunday, August 28, 2022, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 54 offenders on both external borders and within the country.

21 trespassers were detected on external borders, including:

  • one foreigner with forged documents

at „Grebņeva” border control point, one citizen of Russia who presented a forged vehicle registration certificate of Poland was detected. Criminal proceedings have been initiated for the use of forged documents. As part of the criminal proceedings, forged documents were confiscated.

  • entry to the Republic of Latvia was refused for three foreigners

at „Terehova” and „Vientuļi” border control points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused for two citizens of Moldova and one citizen of Ukraine, as foreigners could not justify the purpose and circumstances of their travel and stay; and two citizens of Russia, as foreigners were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits. Persons were returned to their country of exit.

  • conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen area were violated by five foreigners

at „Grebņeva”, „Silene” and Airport „Riga” border control points, two citizens of Russia, one citizen of Ukraine, one citizen of Georgia, and one citizen of Kazakhstan, who had violated conditions of residence in the Schengen area (exceeded the period of stay specified in the visa or visa-free regime, no valid visa or residence permit) were detected. Persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Latvia

at Airport „Riga” border control point, one citizen of Latvia departing to Edinburg without a valid travel document was detected. Person was prohibited from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected by four persons - three citizens of Lithuania and one citizen of Russia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 29 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia - six citizens of Latvia, five citizens of Russia, five citizens of Belarus, four citizens of Moldova, three citizens of Ukraine, two citizens of Kazakhstan, two citizens of Kyrgyzstan, one citizen of Greece, and one citizen of Romania.
