On Monday, August 28, 57 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 6700 persons have been stopped during this year.
Due to humanitarian reasons, one person was not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; 310 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
On August 28, officials of the State Border Guard detected 62 offenders at external borders and within the country.
30 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 15 foreigners
at the Vientuļi, the Grebņeva, the Terehova, the Pāterniek and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Georgia, one – of Uzbekistan, one – of Canada and one – of America, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to three citizens of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay; as well as to one citizen of Tajikistan, as the foreigner was banned from entry into the territory of the Schengen States. Five more citizens of Russia and one of Ukraine - were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 7 foreigners
four citizens of Uzbekistan, two – of Belarus and one – of Great Britain were detected at the Pāternieki, the Silene and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa or the fixed period of stay, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, were not in possession of valid travel document). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by the citizen of Great Britain was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one minor citizen of Latvia, departing for Antalya, who did not have the notarized consent of at least one parent to leave the country independently, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 8 persons – three citizens of Lithuania, two – of Uzbekistan, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Iran and one - of Estonia.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 20 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Belarus, six – of Latvia, five - of Moldova, one – of Lithuania, one – of Spain and one – of Uzbekistan.
