On Wednesday, August 28, 26 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 4080 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 16 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 46 offenders at external borders and within the country.
23 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected
At the Port of Ventspils, during the profiling of passengers entered the country, one citizen of Latvia, who presented to border guards a forged Poland driving licence, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for the use of forged documents. The forged document was seized within the framework of the criminal proceedings.
- 1 wanted person – citizen of Latvia was detained
At the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia entered Latvia from Ireland, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained was handed over to officials of the State Police.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 11 foreigners
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Georgia, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay; at the Terehova Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova and three – of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to three citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel documents; while at the Grebņeva Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia and two – of Ukraine due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 7 foreigners
four citizens of Uzbekistan, two - of Moldova and one – of Russia were detected at the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa regime, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for two citizens of Uzbekistan.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 21 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – seven citizens of Belarus, two – of Latvia, two – of Russia, two – of Moldova, one – of Estonia, one - of Lithuania, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Belgium, one – of France, one – of Mongolia, one – of Hungary and one – of Germany.
