On Monday, August 29, 2022, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 55 offenders on both external borders and within the country.

24 trespassers were detected on external borders, including:

  • two wanted persons were detained

at Airport „Riga” border control point, one citizen of Latvia departing to London who was wanted by the police was detected. In turn, officers of the Zemgale Service of the Riga Board discovered one wanted non - citizen of Latvia on the A8 highway (Eleja parish) while performing service duties. Persons were detained and handed over to officers of the State Police.

  • entry to the Republic of Latvia was refused for one foreigner

at „Silene” border control point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused for one citizen of Kyrgyzstan, as the foreigner was not in possession of a valid visa or residence permit. Person was returned to the country of exit.

  • conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen area were violated by 12 foreigners

at “Terehova” and Airport “Riga” border control points, seven citizens of Uzbekistan, two citizens of Ukraine, two citizens of Russia, and one citizen of Belarus, who had violated conditions of residence in the Schengen area (exceeded the period of stay specified in the visa or visa-free regime, no valid visa or residence permit) were detected. Proceedings were not initiated in the case of an administrative violation of one citizen of Uzbekistan; other persons are subject to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected by four persons - one citizen of Latvia, one citizen of Great Britain, one citizen of Uzbekistan, and one citizen of Ukraine.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 24 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia - nine citizens of Belarus, five citizens of Russia, four citizens of Moldova, two citizens of Latvia, one citizen of Lithuania, one citizen of Kazakhstan, one citizen of Kyrgyzstan, and one citizen of Great Britain.
