On Tuesday, August 29, 70 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 6770 persons have been stopped during this year.

Due to humanitarian reasons, five persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; 315 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On August 29, officials of the State Border Guard detected 60 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

35 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

at the Vientuļi Border Control Point 1 citizen of Ukraine, who presented to border guards forged Ukrainian vehicle driving license, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for using forged documents. The forged document was seized within the framework of the criminal process.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 17 foreigners

at the Vientuļi, the Grebņeva, the Terehova, the Silene, The Liepaja Unit and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Russia and one – of Georgia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document. Eight more citizens of Russia and five - of Ukraine were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

one citizen of Belarus was detected at the Silene Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The person was subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one minor citizen of Latvia, departing for Antalya, who did not have the notarized consent of at least one parent to leave the country independently, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 9 persons – four citizens of Vietnam, two – of Turkmenistan, one – of Lithuania, one – of India and one - of Estonia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 16 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – 10 citizens of Belarus, three – of Uzbekistan, one – of Russia, one – of Lithuania and one – of Germany.
