On Thursday, August 3, 22 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 5285 persons have been stopped this year.

In total 263 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On August 3, officials of the State Border Guard detected 59 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

20 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

at the Grebņeva Border Control Point 1 citizen of Ukraine, who presented to border guards forged Ukrainian vehicle driving license, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for using forged documents. The forged document was seized within the framework of the criminal process.

  • 1 wanted persons was detained

At the „Riga” Airport one citizen of Latvia entered the country from Edinburg, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to the officials of the State Police.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 10 foreigners

at the Grebņeva, the Terehova and the Vientuļi Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Ukraine and one - of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; to one citizen of Moldova and one – of Russia as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay. Three more citizens of Ukraine and one - of Russia were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one minor citizen of Latvia, departing for Tivat, who was not in possession of a notarized consent of at least one parent to leave the country independently, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 15 persons – five citizens of Belarus, three – of Moldova, two – of Uzbekistan, one – of Russia, one - of Lithuania, one – of Armenia, one – of Kirgizstan and one – of Romania.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 23 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – seven citizens of Belarus, four – of Lithuania, three – of Russia, two – of Latvia, two – of Kirgizstan, two – of Moldova, two – of Serbia and one – of Ukraine.
