On Tuesday, August 30, 2022, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 36 offenders on both external borders and within the country.

20 trespassers were detected on external borders, including:

  • one foreigner with forged documents was detected

one citizen of Lithuania departing to Sweden, who presented a forged driver’s license from Lithuania to the border guards, was detected at the “Ventspils” Board. Criminal proceedings have been initiated for the use of forged documents. As part of the criminal proceedings, forged documents were confiscated.

  • entry to the Republic of Latvia was refused for five foreigners

at “Terehova” and “Grebņeva” border control points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Moldova as foreigners could not justify the purpose and circumstances of their travel and stay; two citizens of Russia; and one citizen of Ukraine, as foreigners were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits. Persons were returned to their country of exit.

  • conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen area were violated by three foreigners

at “Terehova” and “Grebņeva” border control points, three citizens of Russia who had violated conditions of residence in the Schengen area (exceeded the period of stay specified in the visa) were detected. Proceedings were not initiated in the case of an administrative violation of one citizen of Russia; other persons are subject to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Latvia

at “Terehova” border control point, one citizen of Latvia departing to Russia without a valid document required for traveling to the Russian Federation was detected, while at “Pāternieki” border control point, one minor citizen of Latvia, who was not in possession of his/her parents’ notarized consent to leave the country on his/her own, was detected. Persons were refused the right to leave the country.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 16 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia - six citizens of Russia, four citizens of Latvia, two citizens of Ukraine, one citizen of Belarus, one citizen of Lithuania, one citizen of Kyrgyzstan, and one citizen of Vanuatu.
