On Saturday, August 31, 2 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 40897 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 16 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 38 offenders at external borders and within the country.
14 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 7 foreigners
at the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the Grebņeva Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to five citizens of Russia and one – of Uzbekistan, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners
one citizen of Uzbekistan, one - of Moldova and one – of Azerbaijan were detected at the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). The persons were held administratively liable.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 foreigner
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Finland (female) departing for Moldova, who was not in possession of valid travel document, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 6 persons - two citizens of Russia, two – of Estonia, one – of Lithuania and
one – of Moldova.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 18 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Latvia, three - of Belarus, three – of Moldova, two – of Kyrgyzstan, two – of Uzbekistan, one – of Estonia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Armenia, one – of Georgia and one – of Tajikistan.
