On Monday, August 5, 1 person was stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 3703 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 12 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 49 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

35 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 2 foreigners with forged documents were detected

at the Grebņeva Border Control Point, one citizen of Germany leaving Latvia, who presented to border guards a forged Polish vehicle driving licence, was detected; while at the Pāternieki Border Control Point, one citizen of Uzbekistan leaving Latvia, who presented to border guards a forged Montenegro international vehicle insurance policy, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated against the citizen of Germany for using forged documents, the citizen of Uzbekistan was subjected to administrative liability. The forged documents were seized.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 10 foreigners

at the Terehova Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to four citizens of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit. While at the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to six citizens of Ukraine, due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 13 foreigners

seven citizens of Kazakhstan, three – of Russia, two – of Uzbekistan and one – of Tajikistan were detected at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by four citizens of Kazakhstan was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

  • exit from the country was refused to 3 persons

at the Pāternieki Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia (female), departing for Great Britain without valid travel document and at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, two citizens of Latvia, departing for Great Britain, whose travel documents are not valid for travel to Great Britain, were detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 3 persons -  one citizen of Cameroon, one – of Estonia and one – of Lithuania.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 11 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, two – of Moldova, two – of Germany, one – of Romania, one – of Serbia and one – of the Czech Republic.
