On Tuesday, August 6, 6 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 3709 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 12 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 65 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

20 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 2 wanted persons were detained

At the Pāternieki Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. While at the Port of Ventspils, during a check of the passenger lists, one Lithuanian citizen entered from Sweden who is wanted by the police, was detected. The persons were detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 foreigner

at the Pāternieki Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa travel document. The person was returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 4 foreigners

two citizens of Russia, one – of Kazakhstan and one – of Azerbaijan were detected at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the country was refused to 1 person

at the Pāternieki Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia (female), departing for Bekarus without valid travel document was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 17 persons -  seven citizens of Lithuania, three – of Montenegro, two – of Serbia, one – of Ghana, one – of India, one – of Estonia, one – of Nigeria and one – of Georgia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 28 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – 13 citizens of Belarus, four – of Uzbekistan, three – of Latvia, one – of Russia, one – of USA, one – of Georgia, one – of Kirgizstan, one – of Moldova, one – of Romania, one – of Serbia and one – of Finland.
