On Wednesday, August 7, 9 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 3718 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 12 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 56 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

22 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 7 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova and one – of Kosovo, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel documents; to two citizens of Russia and one – of Uzbekistan, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Uzbekistan, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Belarus due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 9 foreigners

four citizens of Tajikistan, three – of Uzbekistan, one - of Kirgizstan and one – of Azerbaijan were detected at the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by three citizens of Tajikistan and one – of Uzbekistan was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 20 persons -  eight citizens of Bangladesh, four – of Estonia, three – of India, three – of Cameroon and two – of Latvia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 14 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Belarus, three – of Uzbekistan, two – of Russia, two – of Moldova, one – of Latvia, one – of Estonia, one – of Lithuania and one – of Great Britain.
