On Friday, August 9, 30 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 3756 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 12 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 51 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

23 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 2 foreigners with forged documents were detected

At the Grebņeva Border Control Point, one citizen of Kazakhstan leaving Latvia, who presented to border guards a forged Kazakhstan vehicle registration certificate, and one citizen of Germany leaving Latvia, who presented to border guards a forged Spanish driving licences, were detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated against a German citizen for the use of forged documents, while the citizen of Kazakhstan was held administratively liable. The forged documents were seized.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 4 foreigners

at the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova and two – of Azerbaijan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 7 foreigners

three citizens of Belarus, two – of Georgia, one – of Kirgizstan and one - of Uzbekistan were detected at the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by one citizen of Belarus and one – of Kirgizstan was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia, departing for Turkey without a valid travel document, and one citizen of Latvia (female) departing for Great Britain, whose travel document was not valid for travel to Great Britain, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons -  two citizens of Russia, one – of Latvia and one - of Lithuania.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 24 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – seven citizens of Belarus, four – of Lithuania, three – of Moldova, two – of Latvia, two – of Russia, one – of Estonia, one – of Bulgaria, one – of Israel, one – of Tajikistan, one – of Germany and one – of Ireland.
