"National workshops on elaboration of contingency plans for Border crossing points" were implemented on 28 February - 2 March 2018 in Dushanbe (Tajikistan) and 5-7 March 2018 in Tashkent (Uzbekistan) in accordance with "Border Management in Central Asia - Phase 9 (BOMCA 9)" project Action Plan for I half of 2018. Chief of the State Border Guard International Cooperation Department of the SBG of Latvia Colonel Vladimirs Zaguzovs and Deputy Chief of Daugavpils Board of the SBG of Latvia Colonel Olegs Voloncevičs were implementing the above-mentioned activities in the status of EU experts.

The main aim of the activity was elaboration of contingency plans at Border crossing points (BCP) as one of the key elements of capability jointly react to emergencies at BCP. Activity is an important part of collaboration between border agencies at BCP level, other law enforcement agencies as well as agencies involved in management of mixed migration flows (incl. refugees and asylum seekers) and way for the implementation of sustainable cooperation among cooperation partners managing cross - border flow. In particular, EU member states good experiences in addressing the emergency situations at BCPs were presented.

The workshops were attended by the representatives of central, regional and local level authorities of the Tajikistan and Uzbekistan border management institutions as well as representatives of the institutions responsible for the development of interagency agreements and cooperation mechanisms in emergency situations.

On 11 June 2015 Grant Agreement DCI-ASIE / 2015 / 358-348: "Border Management in Central Asia - 9th Phase (BOMCA 9)" was signed between the Delegation of the European Union in the Republic of Kyrgyzstan and the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia according to which the implementation of the Project activities was commenced on 15 June 2015. The State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia was designated as the Lead institution in the implementation of BOMCA 9 project and its Consortium leader.
