On Friday, December 23, a citizen of Georgia who tried to bribe the border guards was detained at the Silene Border Control Point.
During the border check on persons crossing the state border, the border guards detected a citizen of Georgia entering Latvia, who drives a truck, which had not undergone the national technical inspection.
In order to cross the State border without the necessary documents for the vehicle, the driver of the vehicle gave the border guards a bribe in the amount of 50 euros.
Criminal proceedings were initiated for bribery against the man, born in 1973, pursuant to Section 323(1) of the Criminal Law; as well as with the order of the Southern Latgale Prosecution Office on punishment, the man, committed the crime, was fined in the amount of 10 minimum monthly salaries, i.e. 5000 euros.
